Pageland is known as the Watermelon Capital of the World, and each July, the Pageland Watermelon Festival highlights a summer season full of activities. Thousands of visitors come from all over the southeast to enjoy the parade, beauty pageants, music, food and crafts.

We close off one of the main streets in Pageland and enjoy day and night time activities. There is a carnival with rides for the kids, magic shows to entertain all ages, car and motorcycle shows, softball and live music throughout the day.

We have been enjoying the growth of our festival since 1951. The stories about the history of our festival will be told from the many generations that have attended the events. We will continue to add stories to our article that you can view here by clicking on History.

Have you ever seen a watermelon seed spitting contest? How about eating as many melons as you can in 90 seconds, with your hands behind you back? These are just two of the fun events anyone can enter to compete for the winning prize.
