All drivers must have a valid driver’s license in the appropriate category.
No candy, literature, or other materials may be thrown out along the line of the march.
Any entries involving live animals will be subject to review by the Parade Committee.
Alcoholic beverages are forbidden on any float, in any vehicle, or on the person of any participant. Participants consuming alcohol prior to or during the parade will be removed from the line-up, no refunds will be given, and the subjects will not be allowed to participate in any future Pageland Watermelon Festival Parade.
All units should reflect a watermelon theme and should have decorations, costumes, and/or music where appropriate.
Float Rules and Regulations
Floats with any commercial sign, banner, or logo (including trucks pulling non-profit floats) will be considered commercial entries.
Floats judged unsuitable because of size, safety hazards, or structural weakness will be subject to removal.
To ensure the safety of riders, all children must be unloaded from the floats at the end of the parade route.
Application and Selection
The parade will be limited. Applications are accepted based on creativity, proposed use of theme, and type of unit.
Parade line-up will be at 10 am the morning of the parade and area map information may be found on our website at: http://www.pagelandwatermelonfestival.com.
Entries not accepted will have their application fees returned. No refunds will be issued for no-shows.
The Chamber of Commerce has a wide variety of floats that are available for rent. Signs and drivers will be provided for rented floats. Contact the Chamber of Commerce concerning renting a float. All floats must have riders during the parade. There are various groups looking for floats on which to ride. The Chamber can assist in finding riders. The float renter is responsible, however, for making sure that there are riders on the entry.
